When to see the Doctor

Please see the Doctor if you have any of the following symptoms.  Tell friends or relatives to see their own Doctor if they have any of these symptoms. This is not an exhaustive list and if you have any other symptom or health matter you wish to discuss with the Doctor you are welcome to make an appointment.

  • Alteration in bowel habit (constipation/diarrhoea or both) lasting 4 weeks.
  • Cough lasting more than 4-6 weeks.
  • Coughing blood.
  • Deafness/giddiness.
  • Difficulty holding or passing urine or passing more frequently (especially in men aged over 50).
  • Frequent nose bleeds.
  • Hoarse voice lasting over 3 weeks.
  • Loss of blood from the vagina after the menopause.
  • Pain and tenderness over the temple (in those aged over 55).
  • Pain in the eye, blurred vision, blood in the white of the eye.
  • Passing blood in the urine or bowel motions
  • Suspicious lumps or moles on the skin, especially if they are enlarging or bleeding.
  • Symptoms of indigestion lasting over 2 weeks.
  • Unexplained weight loss.
  • Vomiting blood.
